Is a helmet mandatory when cycling?
Yes, helmets are compulsory up to the age of 12 and are strongly recommended for older children.
Are there any specific traffic rules I should know about?

Can I use my mobile phone while cycling?
When riding NO, of course, only when at a stop and only if I take cover on the side of the road so as not to disturb other cyclists or cars riding behind me.
Are rental bikes equipped with lights to ride in the dark?
All rental bikes are equipped with lights so you can see and be seen at night.
Since 01/10/08, on country roads, when riding at night, or during the day when visibility is insufficient, all drivers and passengers of a bike must wear a high-visibility vest complying with the French traffic Regulations, under penalty of a fine (Art. R. 431-1-1. of the French Traffic Regulations).
Where should I park my bike?
There are bike parks all over the Ré Island.
Please make sure that you secure your rental bike with the locks provided by Cycland and that you never park your bike in a space that is not provided for this purpose, under penalty of sanctions.
What accessories are provided with the rental bike?
Cycland will provide you with a lock, lights for the bike, and of course a horn or bell. Helmets for adults are optional but highly recommended (€1/day), those for children are compulsory up to the age of 12 and therefore provided.
We will equip the bike with a basket, free of charge, at your request.
Do you hire out trailers for children?
Yes, we rent out trailers for children and babies.
How many small children can I fit in a trailer?
The trailer is designed for 2 small children sitting down.
It can carry a maximum of 40kgs.
It is equipped with a bench, belts and straps to ensure their safety.
From what age can a baby be placed in a "baby trailer"?
It is possible to install a baby from 3 months in a special trailer equipped with an infant seat or a hammock.
Be careful to keep your trips short and flat, as the infant’s bones are still very fragile.
Until what age can a child sit in a "child seat"?
From the age of 18 months to 5 years, you are allowed to put your child in a child seat with a helmet.
Shall I use a basket or a trailer for my dog?
The dog basket is designed for small dogs (Yorkshire, Shitzu, Dachshund..)
The trailer is designed for medium-sized dogs up to 15kgs.
It is necessary to reserve your basket or trailer in advance as they are in great demand.
Can I rent a trailer (for animals or children) without a bike?
Yes, depending on availability in the shop.
Can I attach my own trailer to the rental bike?
Yes of course, under your own responsibility.
Do you rent tandems?
Yes, we rent tandems « adults and adults + 1 child » and « tandem adult + 2 children ».
Do you rent electric bikes?
Yes, we rent electric bikes.
Can I have rental bikes delivered to my home?
It is possible to do so but only at certain rental points and by booking in advance
Can I buy a second-hand bike?
Yes, depending on availability, they are visible on our website
Can I buy a second-hand electric bike?
Yes, depending on availability, they are visible on our website
Can I return my bike earlier than planned?
Yes, of course it is possible to return your bike before the date initially planned

Can I return my bike to any Cycland shop on Ré Island ?
Yes, depending on availability in the shop.
What to do in the event of an accident?
What shall I do in case of an accident?
1- Protect the accident area,
2- Cover the victim so that he/she is not cold,
3- Call for help:
112: Emergency number for all mobile phones
18: Fire brigade
15: Ambulance (SAMU)
4 – Specify the health condition of the victim and the place of the accident by using the markers on the ground every 200m. E.g.: LB1810 (letters = the town where you are and numbers = location)
5- Remain at the disposal of the rescue team for any further information.
Does the rental bike have theft insurance?
The theft insurance contract comes into effect when the rental contract is signed.
– Theft insurance is optional.
– Customers may opt for this insurance for an additional fee.
– In the event of theft, the client is exempt from the obligation to pay back the rented equipment at its market value.
– This exemption is always subject to a franchise fee.
– A copy of the official theft report will be required.
What should I do if my bike is stolen?
I will file a complaint at the gendarmerie, and I will inform my renter to settle the situation.
What happens if the bike is damaged during the rental period?
Any damage to the vehicle will be charged to the hirer.
The hirer must provide for the routine maintenance of the cycle.
Do I have to leave a deposit?
Yes, it is necessary to leave a deposit, by credit card or cheque.
Do you accept holiday vouchers?
Yes, we accept holiday vouchers.
Are there discounts for groups?
Yes, for company groups, weddings, workshops, etc.
IMPORTANT: contact the shop where you want to rent the bike.
Are there discounts for long-term rentals?
Yes, the price is degressive every day, so the discount is included in the price.
Do you provide maps of Ré Island ?
Yes, depending on the availability of our stocks in the shop.

Yes, don’t hesitate to ask for advice from our hirers before leaving.
